Wow, prom was much much better than last year. Less drama (for me at least) and less awkwardness.
Yup, I win. I had the best dinner (Ocean), the best corsage (hyacinth), and the best date (Michael). Life is good.
Perhaps I should update more often.
Hmm..are the concerts at Workplay 21+? sure hope not |

If anyone knows any interesting facts about the Chinese car industry, please share: Mental_Floss Magazine needs it, I need to find it, and the Chinese car market is a barren wasteland of boredom. Thanks!
P.S. My icon wasn't supposed to be that contrasty, but some coloring was lost when I reduced the resolution. Now I look like an alien. I'll fix it one of these days. |

Ok, so maybe I'm not exactly electricity's BITCH, per se, but it's crazy how...helpless having no power can make one feel. We didn't get power back until about 4:30 Saturday afternoon, but it seemed like forever without air conditioning, laundry capabilities, ice, etc. Thursday I stayed in and wallowed in the excess positive ions floating around (depressing), listened to the wind, and made a spectator sport out of watching the tree in my front yard balance precariously on our power line. Fun times, let me tell you. Friday was much much better: Michael navigated his way to the Dodd fortress and wisely suggested getting out of the house. We hopped in his car and traveled past fallen trees and downed power lines to gawk at the mudslide house on Smyer Road. When he said "mudslide," I thought he meant "big messy mud puddle." No, siree... A "mudslide" is when a CHUNK OF MOUNTAIN decides to cease being a part of the said mountain. So when a mudslide hits a house, the house slides too. It's a good thing that poor disjointed house is vacant! When we got back, we went with my parents to the Southern Museum of Flight and checked on things there (4 white people in a minivan!!). Then we went out to eat at Costa's Mediterranean (fabulous salmon) and played Scattergories with my mom by candlelight. Good day, that was. And let's just say that Saturday and Sunday were perfect enough to start the school week off with a positive attitude, even optimism regarding my extended essay... |

If life is a gradual narrowing of options, I think I'm narrowing it down to pure happiness.
Take, for example, my day yesterday: ice cream breakfast, rewarding thrift store excursion, Casablanca at the Alabama Theater (Theatre?), Wendy's, E, and old people. Can't get better than that.
See that? wow |

Whew. I haven't written in forever, but hopefully I can manage to update more often (although I may not be at home often). For those that don't know..I'm in the Birmingham-Southern Summer Scholars program, taking Studio Painting, piano lessons, and one yet undetermined class (philosophy or world religions, perhaps?). At any rate, I'll be living in the dorm and "learning how to cope with college life." How clever.
You guys are welcome to visit. In fact, since I have access to the fitness center, you can come swim or workout with me (FREE!). Woo hoo, bitches. I'll post my room phone number in a few days.
Ironically, my curfew is 11 on Sunday - Thursday. Friday and Saturday it's 12. That's MORE lenient than my parents...sad. lol. Well, I must go eat dinner with my family, I'm at home trying to wean them off me slowly, as Michael advised. We're having chicken salad from Our Place. Yum. I hope George didn't spit in it. |

::yawn:: I fell asleep at my computer, and woke up about 5 minutes ago. I have GOT to get the sleep schedule back on track before exams, finals, etc. So...Friday. First block I had strength building, which was rewarding because I bench pressed 60 pounds and did my first (ever!!) pullup. (Don't laugh, that makes me proud. I'll kick your ass with my popeye muscles.) Second block I had Precal, which was reassuring because I actually understand vectors and did NOT fall asleep to the drone of Tanner. Third, German, we watched Herr White's hilarious video, previously mentioned in Michael's entry. I seriously question his sexuality after seeing him skipping, frollicking, dancing wildly, etc. to cheesy music. But you know what? If he's gay, I'm OK with that. After the incredible change war feud, we got hussied up and headed to the gym for MUNA. Fun stuff. My only regret is not remembering my digital camera, because several groups had amazingly authentic costumes. Vietnam (Thanh, Jennifer, Linh, and another small freshman asian biatch) was by far the best-dressed, complete with those straw lampshade hats. I want one of those tunic/pants floaty outfits made for me!! If only they weren't so expensive.. Maybe my mom can make one. Our resolution passed, although I do have to say that Matt Ray caught me off guard and slightly raped our presentation. Much damage can be done by dropping a few names and facts in the right places, which he reminded Haley and I in our committee. I think we made peace after the session, so it's all gravy now. Jimmy, Matt (Ray), Brandon (Underwood), and I hopped into Brandon's car (I know, scary thought) and ran to the service station for drinks during the break. He's actually a pretty good driver, and I am ONE DAY older than him = sad. Then we went back and started with the resolutions, voting, etc. Went home at 7, hung out with Jimmy for a while, ate Chinese leftovers, and fell asleep. And that brings we to now..
I promise pictures tomorrow. |

Ok, so Thanh is the only person thus far (besides myself) that has been able to see my picture. Why? Little people are magic. Let's see if we can't try one more time, with the same picture. You know, spread the magic. Here goes:

Today started out with AP Comp review, which I think everyone would agree was tiresome to say the least. Plus, I didn't get there until about 8:25 (big surprise), so I spent the rest of the time slightly lost. Then came AP Chemistry, which wasn't nearly so bad because there was a guest speaker (which, of course, means that I understood what she was saying). Plus, she made a humerous connection between chemical reactions and sex, complete with "Hey, baby...have I got some electrons for you!?!" hahahahaha So it's not that I can't learn APChem, it's just that Mrs. Anderson doesn't cater to my learning style. I think I'll eat her liver, with some fava beans and a nice chianti... Third block we had more AP Comp review. Ack. But I did get to eat lunch with an old friend, Hailey. Interesting and disturbing how we all change. Fourth block we played trivial pursuit in Clayton's room, and to be honest, I wish I had skipped and gone to the ASO concert. Although I did buy this Loreneish shirt from Mr. Griffin that pleases me. It reads "I'd rather be sleeping." I think it suits me. *Correction: Charlotte donated a dollar to Mr. Griffin, but didn't find a shirt she wanted. So technically Charlotte bought the shirt, and I mooched. Thanks!!! Tomorrow we have "Choose Your Favorite President and Bring Food" Day. wtf. I'm Millard Fillmore. Why? Because he accomplished absolutely nothing besides having a goofy name. Sounds good to me. Ps. Michael's car looks like a raisin. |

Hello all! For a while now I've read other people's journals and debated getting one myself. In lieu of the huge number of things I SHOULD be spending my time doing, I chose World Lit Week to fire this sucker up! Hope you enjoy reading about me as much as I have enjoyed keeping up with you guys. (add me as a friend) |
